Those of you who have had sessions with us have probably heard us drop the term “head swap” before, especially for sibling photos. This is something we do in editing to essentially swap out someone’s head in a photo to replace it with a better option from a different photo. The range of difficulty varies enormously, but with all the practice we’ve had, it’s safe to say we’re experts at head swap sibling photos.
We used to only do the occasional head swap from time to time, but now we actually do multiple for every single gallery we delivery. Seems crazy, I know! But with the candid nature of the interactions we photograph, it makes sense that while some people might be laughing or smiling in a photo, another person was talking, blinking, fixing their hair, etc. The perfectionist in us will not let us pass by an opportunity for a head swap because we truly want you to love every single one of your photos!
And now imagine a session with JUST the kiddos… Yeah, I’m sure you can picture how chaotic that can get. Now take it a step further and imagine these kids in a small studio… where they have to sit side-by-side… and smile… at the same time…
But that’s where the magic happens! Check out the three-way head swap sibling photos we did below during the sibling portion of baby girl’s cake smash session.
Miracles do happen!
