Hi Again!

WE'RE THE LUCE TWINS.
Bay City, Michigan Photographers Lisa and Julie - Contact Us to Book a Photo Session

We’ve been operating our business together since 2014, and recently moved into the studio of our dreams in 2022, located in Bay City’s Kosciuszko Avenue Business District. We bring out each other’s best self, and we love helping our clients find their energy together too. We love laughing, snuggling, playing, sunsets, sunrises, textures, colors, and finding beauty in unexpected places. Our style is posed and unposed, authentic, contrasty, and vibrant. We hope you’ll choose us as your photographer in Bay City, MI.

Get to Know Us!

Hi there, Lisa here!

I’ve been a photographer in Bay City, MI for almost half my life. Not always in the professional, get-paid-for-it sort of way, but my first jump into photography was when I joined yearbook my sophomore year of high school.

Quite a different gig from photographing families and newborns like I do now, but I loved waiting on the sidelines at games for that perfect shot to come along.

And more than that, I liked being good at it, and I liked being privy to those special moments and getting to freeze time for someone to relive later on. In that sense, it really is quite similar to what I do now. It's more than than just taking pretty pictures though, I love playing with kids and learning what it is that makes them giggle, and I really love planning the details in cake smash and newborn setups.

Getting creative is just fun! And getting to do it all with my twin makes it even better. We really are like two peas in a pod, and although we probably can’t really read each other’s minds, sometimes it feels like we can!

When I’m not at the studio, you can usually find me at home hanging out with my three kitties and my husband, Paul. And although I somehow didn’t learn that I was a cat person until my thirties (I blame my allergies), they are the loves of my life. So I guess what I’m trying to say is this: “Hi, I’m Lisa! I’d love to get to know you and photograph your beautiful family in whatever capacity you show up. And if you like cats, even better. Let’s chat!”

Hey guys, I'm Julie!

I’m the other half of Luce Photography – and the other half of Lisa for that matter. I’m a creative Type A, meaning I love both the wildness of celebrating the fun, playful, and loving parts of real life, but I also have an obsession with keeping lists and making sure every piece of laundry is folded in the exact right way. It can be hard to balance, but I do alright.

I love to read and am trying to write more too. I actually have a degree in writing, but it’s the technical kind – there’s that creative Type A thing again. My guilty pleasure is young adult, but I love everything including fantasy, thriller, romance, and educational.

I love being outside, and I’m thankful to be a photographer in Bay City, MI where we get to experience all four of our beautiful seasons. And I also love being inside trying out new recipes or cuddling up with my cats. A couple years ago, I rescued two kitties who changed my life for the better. It may sound silly, but they forced me to slow down and appreciate time to just be.

I’ve been vegetarian for over half my life, but have recently had to eliminate dairy, egg, and gluten as well. Being a gluten-free vegan has made me realize creativity in even new ways, but I surprisingly love the challenge.

Nothing makes me happier than being with my family. And no other session gets me as excited as a newborn. I’m becoming quite the baby whisperer, and – as you probably guessed – I care a lot about making sure all the little details are in place to create the perfect image.

Fun Facts About Us!

We both LOVE the Backstreet Boys. And although we’d each marry every one of them if we could, when push comes to shove, Lisa is Team AJ and Julie is Team Nick.

Our biggest difference is our height. While Julie is only 10 seconds older than Lisa, she is 4 inches taller!

We both were on Yearbook and the school newspaper at Bay City Central High School, where we graduated in 2007. This led us to the photojournalistic, lifestyle approach to photography that you see in our work.

Our favorite places to shoot vary from season to season, and we get bored easily using the same spots too often. Some of the things we look for when scouting are cool textures like stones, wood chips, dilapidated buildings, old fences, and of course, nature! We also love the personal touch of shooting on a client’s private property.

Lisa and her husband spend an embarrassing amount of time practicing their rap game (and are surprisingly pretty good at it!), while Julie and her husband have watched the entire series of The Office so many times everyone’s lost count by now. But even so, they still cry at the same spots every time, and needless to say, have every single episode memorized.
